STATEMENT OF FAITH
OUR PASTOR

The Scriptures:

We believe the plenary, verbal, inspiration of the scriptures. All parts of the Bible are infallible, inerrant, God-breathed, and therefore, are the final authority for faith and life. We believe the King James has been divinely preserved for the English speaking people.

The Person of God:

We believe there is only one true God. He created and rules the Universe, and made man by special creation in the Garden of Eden. We believe in the Trinity: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Person of Jesus Christ:

We believe Christ’s virgin birth, His Deity, and His sinless life, His vicarious death and bodily resurrection, His ascension, and in His personal pre-tribulation, pre-millennial return.

The Person of the Holy Spirit:

We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal with God the Father and the Son. He convicts sinners, performs the new birth, and baptizes the believer into the body of Christ. He seals, guides, sanctifies, and gives power to the believer.

Fall of Man:

We believe that man was created in the image of God and fell voluntarily into sin and death. Sin and death was then passed upon all men. All men are born sinners and under condemnation.

Salvation and Security of the Believer:

We believe that Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ’s redemptive work and not by any work of our own. Jesus is the only way of Salvation. We are kept and secure by the finished work of Jesus Christ.

The Doctrine of the Church:

We believe the church is a congregation of baptized believers associated by a covenant of faith, observing the ordinances of Christ and governed by His laws. The mission of the church is to follow the “Great Commission.”

The Eternal State:

We believe that believers in Christ will enjoy Heaven for eternity and unbelievers will suffer punishment in Hell forever.

Personality of Satan:

We believe that Satan once lived in Heaven and enjoyed its honors. But because of the sin of pride, he wanted to be as God. He fell and was rejected from Heaven, as well as one third of the angels. He is now the prince of the air. He is the tempter, the accuser of the brethren, the author of all false religions of today and lord of the anti-Christ. He will be judged and cast into the lake of fire forever.

Current Trends in Theology:

We believe in the fundamentals of the faith. We stand strongly against any modern trends including Neo-Evangelicalism, Neo-Orthodoxy, the Ecumenical Movement, and the Charismatic movement.

PASTOR
HAWKS

Pastor Jeff Hawks was born in Mount Airy, North Carolina, and his parents raised him in church. He was saved at the age of four after he heard his mother teach Sunday school one Sunday at Midway Baptist Church. She said, “If you are not saved, you have a black, sinful heart (holding up the black heart); it is dirty and ugly. But if you ask Jesus in your heart, He will wash away the sin and make your heart white as snow (holding up the white heart).” All week he was under conviction. He did not want sin in his heart and wanted Jesus to clean it out. That Saturday, he could not take it any longer and told his mother that he wanted to be saved. They went into his bedroom and knelt beside the bed, and he asked Jesus to come into his heart and save him. The next Sunday, he told the whole Sunday school class that Jesus had saved him. He wants to tell the same story to see others come to know the Saviour. At the age of seventeen, he went to the Vacation Bible School at Midway Baptist Church. His teacher asked the question, “What if someone asked you a question about the Bible, could you answer them?” That began to bother him. He wanted to learn more about the Bible but didn’t know how. He asked his teacher, and he told him to study the Bible; he did and grew tremendously. After that, the Lord started to deal with him about preaching the gospel, but he did not like to get up in front of people. He struggled and ran from the call, but God would not leave him alone. Finally, on Sunday morning of October 14, 1984, he walked the aisle and surrendered to the call to preach. He had the privilege of leading his first soul to Christ at 17. Since then, God has given him many wonderful opportunities to serve Him.
